EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATION

All employees of Bearfoot must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard
Certification, therefore, our employment application process is different than that of traditional
jobs. In this 2-step process, you must first hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard
Certification or be willing to complete and pay for the training and certification.

To become an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard for Bearfoot, all applicants must:

•Must be 15 years old on or before the final day of the training course.
•Hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
-OR-
•Be willing to attend our Lifeguard Certification course.

TRAINING PROCESS

The first step is to fill out the application by following the link above. Select the closest training location and the type of certification course you need. Please fill out this application with complete accuracy. Once submitted, check your email and verify you received an automated response email from us confirming we received your application.
After submitting your application, if applicable, you will be registered for the American Red Cross online portion of training, “Blended Learning”. This might take up to 3 days to access the online portion. You will need to fully complete the online portion to attend the in-person training.

In-person training for Deep Water is 4 days, approximately from 8 AM to 6 PM.
In-person training Shallow Water is 2.5 days.

Applicants must be present for all instructional times and may be disqualified if any time is missed.
Test-Out applicants will be contacted to schedule a test-out. Please be knowledgeable and prepared prior to attending the test.

American Red Cross Certification Courses:

American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding & Emergency Oxygen (up to 5 feet)
•Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
•Swim 20 yards, Submerge to a depth of 4 to 5 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object and return to the surface
•Swim 100 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing

Upon completion of this course participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED and Administering Emergency Oxygen, both valid for 2 years.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding & Emergency Oxygen
•Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
•Swim 20 yards, feet first surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick and return to the surface
•Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing

Upon completion of this course participants will receive American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED and Administering Emergency Oxygen, both valid for 2 years.

Upon applying, you will need to choose a training course type:
• Full Training – No previous experience and certification as a Lifeguard
• Recertification – Previously American Red Cross Lifeguard certified which is or will expire soon.
• Test-Out – Certified in 2020 – 2021 with a valid certification in Lifeguarding

American Red Cross Certification Training Fee:
• Full Training – Deep Water ($200) | Shallow Water ($150)
• Recertification – $150
• Test-Out – No Charge
Training Fees are payable through out the summer with a payment plan.

Applicants in need of Full or Recertification Training are required to complete the American Red Cross online portion training. Our Lifeguard Certification course is only available to future employees of Bearfoot. We do not offer certifications to those seeking employment outside of our organization.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for assisting other lifeguards while on the facility deck
  • Provides rotation times for lifeguards
  • Plan daily maintenance & cleaning tasks
  • Responsible for monitoring the pool activity and ensuring patron safety
  • Maintains pool cleanliness

REQUIREMENTS

  • 15 years of age or older
  • Complete American Red Cross lifeguard training
  • Available to work Memorial Day weekend, July 4th and Labor Day
  • Pass background check and drug test
  • Swim 300 yards
  • Attend weekly state-required training

MONITOR

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to emergency situations at the facilities
  • Ensure that Patrons are entering the facility with the appropriate credentials set in place by each community
  • Uphold Bearfoot professionalism, standards and core values
  • Responsible for monitoring the pool activity and ensuring patron safety
  • On-site customer service
  • Maintaining daily paperwork and safety bins.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Complete American Red Cross Lifeguard Or First Aid training
  • Pass background check and drug test
  • Attend weekly state-required training
  • Positive & Caring Attitude
  • Must have reliable transportation to work and available to drive at least 15 – 30 minutes

POOL MANAGER

  • Responsible for all day to day pool operations

SUPERVISOR
